Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 5:15)

At First Methodist, we believe that we all have gifts to share. We share those gifts in two ways: financial giving, and service in our community.

Regular, intentional financial giving is vital to the life of your church. It keeps the lights on and the air conditioners running in our building, directly supports mission partners and disaster relief, buys hymnals and ESL textbooks, and makes a difference in our community. It’s also a spiritual discipline which draws us closer to God and reframes our relationship with the world around us.

Jesus calls us to serve others and love our neighbors as ourselves. At First United Methodist, we take that calling seriously. We support many missions in McKinney, across Texas, and all around the globe. From mentoring students at Caldwell Elementary and giving out free snow cones at the Fourth of July parade here downtown, to delivering medical supplies in Haiti and building clean burning woodstoves in Panama, we act out the love of Christ in the world!

In whatever ways you choose to give and serve, you can share your light. Together, we will share the heart of Christ from the heart of McKinney.
