Children’s Advocacy

United Methodist Social Principles affirm that “adults and society in general have special obligations” to children and that “children have the rights to food, shelter, clothing, health care, and emotional well-being. . . In particular, children must be protected from economic, physical, emotional, and sexual exploitation and abuse” (United Methodist Book of Discipline, 2016, ¶ 162).

Children’s Sabbath

Each year in October, the United Methodist Church joins a multi-faith effort to join in Children’s Sabbath — a time to reflect on God’s gift of children and ways congregations and individuals can renew their commitment to care for, protect, and advocate for all children. In worship and prayer, we focus on the needs of children to discern where God might be calling us as the church and as individuals to action as people of God.
We support and encourage participation in local and global efforts for the well-being of children.
