Bible Study Classes for 2023-2024

Congratulations on registering for a Bible Study class at First UMC! Participants are responsible for ordering their study materials. The links below will send you directly to a third-party products page for the specific materials you need. Find your group and use the link to purchase your materials. If you require assistance with the ordering process or need to apply for a scholarship, please contact the Adult Discipleship Office. 

Note: It is possible that you can find these materials through other venues for different prices. Feel free to do so, but make sure you have the correct text before ordering. 

  • Disciple 1 – Wednesdays at 6:30 pm with Dr. Tommy Brumett Purchase Study Manual.
  • Disciple 1 (Fast Track) – Sundays at 6:00 pm at MELISSA UMC Purchase Study Manuals. (Note: for this class you will need to purchase two books – the “Old Testament” and the “New Testament” Study Manuals.)
  • Disciple 3 (Fast Track) – Sundays at 6:00 pm at MELISSA UMC   Purchase Study Manuals. (Note: for this class you will need to purchase two books – the “The Prophets” and “The Letters of Paul” Study Manuals.)
  • Christian Believer – Sundays at 6:00 pm at MELISSA UMC   Purchase Study Manuals. (Note: for this class you will need to purchase the study manual and the Readings books.)
  • Spiritual Formation – Sundays at 4:30 pm with Dr. James Woods Purchase Book 1. Purchase Book 2 (Note: this class requires two books.)
  • Making Sense of the Bible – Tuesdays at 10:00 am with Monty Forrester Purchase Book.
  • Reading John for Dear Life – Sundays at 5:00 pm with Rev. Macie Liptoi Purchase Book.
  • Words for Life – Mondays at 10:00 am with Marilyn Hodge – Class leader will send information concerning the materials needed prior to the first class.
  • Short Course Bible Study – Tuesdays at 9:30 am with Sam Peacock – Class leader will send information concerning the materials needed prior to first class. The first study book can be purchased here. 
  • Jesus’ Alternative Plan – Sundays at 11:00 am with Rev. Dr. Andrew Clifford & Roger Smidt – Purchase Book.
  • Powerful Parenting – Sundays at 5:15 pm with Dr. Abe Smith & Amy Smith – Class leader will send information concerning the materials needed prior to the first class.
