Adult Sunday School

The adult Sunday school program is a core part of FUMC’s Discipleship Ministries that is growing to meet its role in the church’s vision to equip disciples who share the heart of Christ from the heart of McKinney. Sunday morning short-term studies often supplement the regular schedule to offer special topics. You are welcome to visit different classes to find the best fit for you. Classes meet at 9:00 and 10:05 am.

Alpha & Omega, Room A215, 10:05 
Creative thinking individuals of all ages and backgrounds who value nontraditional discussions of contemporary Bible issues and their meaning for daily living.

Boomers, Room A250, 10:05
Topic-oriented discussion Bible study for ages 40-60 that addresses common questions for Christians’ are faith journey and daily life. Biblical knowledge or participation in the discussion are not required. 

Canafax, B110 (Parlor), 9:00 
This large class mixes lecture and enthusiastic discussion and uses the United Methodist Quarterly Adult Bible Study resources and its own studies. Focuses on current family and professional problem-solving with a biblical foundation.

Celebration, Room B105, 9:00 
This discussion Bible study class for adults of all ages includes the study of books of the Bible as well as topical Bible studies. No previous experience with Bible study is necessary.

Compass, Room C205, 9:00 (Beginning August 29)
Compass provides a spiritually enriching setting for Christian growth, focusing on apologetics and altruism, comprised of married or single parents with infants to school age children.

Credo, Room B205, 9:00 (Beginning August 29)
Credo is an adult class for parents of children participating in the current year's Confirmation Class. This group will follow in an adult group format the same topics on the same schedule that their child in Confirmation is studying.

Faith Connections, Room C210, 9:00
An interactive Bible study that joins the basic study of biblical books with everyday questions of faith in the context of community and Christian fellowship. Includes adults of all ages and backgrounds.

Fellowship, Room B110 (Parlor), 10:05
Singles and couples aged 55 and up enjoys fellowship before class starts at 10 a.m. Lessons using the United Methodist Quarterly Adult Bible Study series encourage spiritual growth through prayer, study and discussion.

Generations, Room A200, 9:00
Couples of varying ages, with and without children, enjoys studies related to family, Christian living, topics of Bible application according to the interests of the class.

Genesis: Room B200, 9:00 
A diverse group of adults, many with preschool or elementary-aged children.  While enjoying Christian fellowship, this class uses topical, seasonal and in-depth Bible studies to discuss and learn about God's design for each our lives.

Homebuilders, Room B205, 10:05 
A marriage and home enrichment class that uses the HomeBuilders Couples Series curriculum. Strengthening Christian marriages and developing supportive relationships with other couples are a focus.

Join the Journey, Room C210, 10:05 (Beginning September 12)
A 12-week class for those who are new to FUMC. Join in anytime during the session. Explore some basic topics in Christianity, Methodism, personal Bible study, and service and discipleship. A place to connect with other newcomers and to begin a journey of learning and growth in the family of faith.

Jubilee, Room C200, 9:00
Adults of all ages and backgrounds participate in this large Bible study class. Jubilee uses a lecture format that incorporates discussion from the class.

Legacy, Room C205, 10:05 
This adult class focuses on "Faith, Family, Fellowship, and Service." They study a variety of biblical topics in an interactive, informal setting. 

Life Applications, Room B215, 10:05
A discussion Bible study class that emphasizes heavily the application of the Scriptures to the contemporary world. (10:05)

Lora Ryan, Chapel, 9:00 
This class is young at heart and enjoys spirit-lifting music, dynamic Bible teaching, and great Christian fellowship. Lessons from excellent leaders are taught using the United Methodist Quarterly Adult Bible Study curriculum.

Odyssey, Room C215, 10:05 
Mainly couples with elementary-aged children, Odyssey uses a variety of Bible-based curricula. The class shares participation in the discussion and leadership of the group.

Seasons, Room B105, 10:05
Young couples engage the study of Scripture and join in relaxed Christian fellowship to enhance their spiritual growth and development as individuals and as partners. The format is interactive study and discussion.

Solo Act, Room A225, 10:05
Singles (never married, divorced, or widowed) focus on the lives of singes in the Bible and on living out the Bible in daily life. They support one another and the community through volunteer and fellowship activities.
