March 14 - 20, 2010
Our hands are gifts from God. They are how we greet each other (the hand shake), congratulate each other (the hand slap, or high five), and connect with each other (holding hands). There is no greater sales pitch than to say something is "hand-made" and we marvel at great works of art that were created by a master's hand. We can use our hands to create, and to destroy, to make beautiful, and to bring to ruin. The question is, what will you do with yours?
I Corinthians 4:12-13 says:
We work hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it; when we are slandered, we answer kindly.(NIV)
I will use my hands...to do what? For good? Or for evil? For myself? Or for God?
This Spring Break, we are traveling to Clear Lake, TX which is on the southeast side of Houston for our annual mission trip. We will be working on houses in and around Clear Lake that have been damaged by hurricanes and have otherwise fallen into disrepair. We will do great work for people who need it, and we will do it all in the Name of Jesus.
We will be working with an organization called U.M. Army (http://www.umarmy.org/conference/texas/) who will provide our food, housing and projects.
We will leave after church on Sunday, March 14, and return home on Saturday, March 20.
This trip is open to all students in the 9th grade and above, and all adults. Students in the 8th grade may attend with a parent.
