Day 2 (March 16, 2008)

Pictures What a great day of work we had today! It's good to be out in the warm sunshine working for the Lord in Juarez, Mexico. The wind blew really hard this afternoon, so we are all a bit sandblasted and tired, but we made a great trip to the local pizza party where a dose of all-you-can-drink Manzana Lift and Mexican Coca-Cola lifted our spirits.

The A-Team (Darrell Park, Hank Johnson, Tom Pence, Mitchell Anderson, Collin Wheeler, Jonathan Adkins, Will Johnson, Alex Pence, Kimberlee Wheeler, Rachel Boulais, Jordan Nelon and Alanna Brosey) began their day by tearing down an existing plywood structure to make room for their new house. They then had to break through the concrete footing which was pretty exhausting work, but in the end, they were able to get their foundation set and poured. Tomorrow promises to bring many enjoyable hours laying brick and mixing mortar.

The Dream Team (James Hunt, Chase Branch, Matthew Chambers, Chase Gilbert, Andrew King, Hunter Munn, Ryan Groce, Andrew Kessler, Will Maness, Hilary Hunt, Gillian Woodburn, Britney Hammond and Maegan Dempsey) spent the day getting to know their family, and setting the foundation for their new house. Their plot is cramped, which meant digging the trench for the foundation was slow going. They are also looking forward to bricking and mixing tomorrow.

The Dirty Dozen (Chris Rickwartz, Scott Anderson, Robert Froehlich, Matt Farmer, AJ Dunson, AJ Groce, Josh Robinson, Jarrett Webb, Shona Dunson, Blake Martinez, Bliss Froehlich and Amanda Wheeler) found much progress already taking place at their work site, with the trench for the foundation more than halfway done. They were able to get the foundation done, and lay several courses of brick before quittin' time. The Dirty Dozen are going to make an all out push to finish their house tomorrow so that they wil be available to help the other groups.
