Adult Sunday School Groups

The adult Sunday school program is a core part of FUMC’s Discipleship Ministries that is growing to meet its role in the church’s vision to equip disciples who share the heart of Christ from the heart of McKinney. Sunday morning short-term studies often supplement the regular schedule to offer special topics. You are welcome to visit different classes to find the best fit for you.
Classes meet from 9:45 to 10:45 am except where noted.

Celebration, Room C200
This discussion Bible study class for adults of all ages includes the study of books of the Bible as well as topical Bible studies. No previous experience with Bible study is necessary. Celebration meets at 8:30 a.m.

Alpha & Omega, Room A215
Creative thinking individuals of all ages and backgrounds who value nontraditional discussions of contemporary Bible issues and their meaning for daily living.

Boomers, Room A250
Topic-oriented discussion Bible study for ages 40-60 that addresses common questions for Christians’ are faith journey and daily life. Biblical knowledge or participation in the discussion are not required.

Canafax, Dyer Hall
This large class mixes lecture and enthusiastic discussion and uses the United Methodist Quarterly Adult Bible Study resources and its own studies. Focuses on current family and professional problem-solving with a biblical foundation.

Faith Connections, Room C205
An interactive Bible study that joins the basic study of biblical books with everyday questions of faith in the context of community and Christian fellowship. Includes adults of all ages and backgrounds.

Fellowship, Room B110 (Parlor)
Singles and couples aged 55 and up enjoys fellowship before class starts at 10 a.m. Lessons using the United Methodist Quarterly Adult Bible Study series encourage spiritual growth through prayer, study and discussion.

Generations, Room A200
Couples of varying ages, with and without children, enjoys studies related to family, Christian living, topics of Bible application according to the interests of the class.

Genesis: Room B200
A diverse group of adults, many with preschool or elementary-aged children.  While enjoying Christian fellowship, this class uses topical, seasonal and in-depth Bible studies to discuss and learn about God's design for each our lives.

Homebuilders, Room B215
A marriage and home enrichment class that uses the HomeBuilders Couples Series curriculum. Strengthening Christian marriages and developing supportive relationships with other couples are a focus.

Jubilee, Room C200
Adults of all ages and backgrounds participate in this large Bible study class. Jubilee uses a lecture format that incorporates discussion from the class.

Legacy, Room C210
This adult class focuses on "Faith, Family, Fellowship, and Service." They study a variety of biblical topics in an interactive, informal setting.

Life Applications, Room B205
A discussion Bible study class that emphasizes heavily the application of the Scriptures to the contemporary world.

Lora Ryan, Chapel
This class of senior adults is young at heart and enjoys spirit-lifting music, dynamic Bible teaching, and great Christian fellowship. Lessons from excellent leaders are taught using the United Methodist Quarterly Adult Bible Study curriculum.

Odyssey, Room C215
Mainly couples with elementary-aged children, Odyssey uses a variety of Bible-based curricula. The class shares participation in the discussion and leadership of the group.

Solo Act, Room B220
Our newest class for single adults studies the contributions of single people throughout the Bible, They focus on praying, caring and sharing.
